I'm not a big advocate of trimming your beard. That being said, this past weekend I did just that. I had a lot of hairs that hung lower than the rest of my beard, making it look scraggly. so I took to it with a pair of trimming scissors. I was very nervous but I made sure I did a little bit at a time, so I didn't mess it up. To say it was nerve racking is an understatement.
I started out by combing out my mane.
I then made the first cut (it hurt a little but I muscled through it).
I made small cuts in the shape I wanted my beard. (when it was uneven it wasn't that devastating)
I finished with one last trim after my shower, just to make sure everything was how I wanted it.
I think having done it myself now I'll be more comfortable doing it next time I need it.
If at any point you feel you are uncomfortable doing it yourself, STOP!!! Have a professional attend to your beard trimming needs.
I made a video of my trimming experience I'll post it soon.
Again thank you for all of your support and as always... BEARD UP!!!

Hello Bearded followers,
I realize that shaving became mainstream when men in the military had to shave to get a good seal on their gas masks. But aside from that I see no use to shave?
I've heard the term, "clean shaven" too much. I have done my homework enough to know that the Beard is a much cleaner choice.
1: Wind, and sun barrier
2: Low maintenance, and saves time
3: Protects from cuts and scrapes
4: Low cost
5: No ingrown hairs
6: Soft on your partners skin
These are just some of the reasons that shaving is a must stop activity
1: Razor burn
2: Ingrown hairs
3: Knicks & Cuts
4: Cost of razors and creams
5: Time
6: 5 O'clock shadow shreds your partners skin
.
So as for me and my family we'll be bearding!!!

Beard Length
I've been stuck at about 10" in beard length for what seems like forever. I have however grown in girth, my beard seems like it's getting thicker.
(To measure your mane, you go from the tip of your bottom lip to the tip of your beard. As per competition regulation.)
I'm having the time of my life since I started letting my beard grow. Between the people I've met and the conversations I've had about said beard.
The most frequent conversation I have is usually, "how long are you going to let your beard grow?" To which my answer has been "Let? I'm not letting my beard grow. It's doing that all on it's own. I am however not stifling it's magnificence."
I've given it a lot of thought, and I can't see myself without a glorious beard. I'm looking forward to many years with it. I hope to have a beard that inspires others to grow a grand monster beard.
Good luck with your beards gentlemen, and don't forget to thank it for being great.
Beard up!!!
Oh and make sure you let the one that loves your beard know, you appreciate their support.

Beards in the workplace...
The fact that the workplace has made having a beard into a negative disturbs me. I think back to all of those bearded brothers of old, and I'm sure they would be beside themselves if they heard an employer say, "you have to shave to get the job"?!?!?! What makes a non-bearded person, out perform a bearded person? If you ask me, having a beard shows commitment, and drive. I would much rather hire a bearded person, than a shorn conformist.
Here's why;
1: Bearded men strive to be on top, (not sheepishly moving through the cubical farm).
2: Bearded men spend less time shaving, and more time thinking of the next big thing.
3: Bearded men let their masculinity show instead of hiding it, (that makes them a much more calm employee).
4: Bearded men show an air of confidence, which helps crush your competitors.
5: Bearded men make the workplace more enjoyable, with their zest for adventure.
6: Bearded men can fix the printer.
7: Bearded men save the office's heating cost.
8: Bearded men provide security simply by being in the office and intimidating would be perpetrators.
9: Bearded men can be distinguished or rugged thus appealing to the masses. (excellent marketing advantage).
10: Bearded men can solve most any problem by just entering the room.
SO BEARD UP MY WORKING BROTHERS!!!
These statements are my opinion as a bearded man, not scientific fact, as I'm not a scientist.

Beard oil recipe:
I bought almond oil, grape seed oil, vitamin E oil, and jojoba oil.
In a glass container mix;
4 parts almond oil, and 1 part each of the rest.(It smells like cooking oil.)
So I added a few drops of cinnamon apple oil. (Essential oils I got from gold canyon, the candle company). It smelled amazing. Very Christmasy.
I wanted something a little more masculine, so I picked up some "Black rain" from Bath and Bodyworks (essential oil line).
They have a whole line of "Guy" scents.
If you look at Gold canyon's online selection, there is a lot to choose from. Enjoy, and let me know how you like it?

Here's a little about me,
I've always had some kind of facial hair, but this is my first (true) full beard.
I'm about 16 & 1/2 months in (and I don't plan on shaving... EVER)
I have trimmed once, there were a few hairs longer than others, so they had to go. (yes I regret it)
I love having my beard, it gives me joy.
You may think that my wife loves it, well she doesn't, she tolerates it because it makes me happy.
I do shave, only my cheeks and a little bit of my neck.
I love my wife and our 4 kids.
My beard makes my kids happy.
I'm a regular guy with a regular job.
Whatever you do, don't shave in a moment of weakness, or haste.
You certainly didn't grow your beard in a moment of passion.
It takes time, stick with it.
